Peanut Knox Vivienne
So with the latest bunch of celeb babies having made their debuts, I figure I should probably weigh in.

Levi McConaughey: Fortunately Matthew & Camila have better taste than his brother who, I believe, called his kid "Miller Lyte"

Sunday Kidman Urban: Sounds a little like a type of car, but frankly with Urban for a last name that was hard to escape.

Knox & Vivienne Jolie-Pitt: Well, Vivienne doesn't remotely match her sisters (Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne)--there really isn't a cogent theme going on there at all, but the boys (Madox, Pax, Knox) sound like brothers. Maybe they were thwarted by France's naming laws that go back to Napoleon hating his own name.

Peanut Rademacher: Ok. This kid has parents named Ingo & Ehiku. Generally, parents with "different" names go for normalcy when they have their own kids. Not this time. Unlike "Apple", Peanut has an entirely different connotation--especially for a boy. Hopefully they use the middle name "Kai" which is strong and self-possessed. (As a sidenote: nice to know that back in high school when I used to fantasize about marrying Ingo one day, I apparently could have gotten away with naming my kids any weird name I wanted to.)

My favourite celeb babies of the year remain "Ignatius Cake" and "Ptolemy Williams". Ptolemy just took cahones to use given the historical context, and Ignatius Cake is literally THE BEST NAME EVER.

...and my daughter thinks I did something terrible when I named her Abigail. Geesh, that's tame.

There's nothing weird about Abigail. I think we all go through a period of detesting our names: they're either too popular or too cutesy or too old or too unique. When I was little I always wanted to be a Sara or Amy. Those were the names I pretended were mine. I wouldn't name my own kids either of those NOW. (There's nothing wrong with them, but they're no longer my taste.)
